In addition to serving as chair and associate professor of dermatology, Trevino is director of the medical school's Dermatology Residency Program and Immunodermatology Laboratory. He is also chief of dermatology and chair of the Medical Quality Council for the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and head of the Division of Dermatology for the Children's Medical Center of Dayton. Earlier this year, the Montgomery County American Cancer Society honored Trevino with its 2009 Community Outreach Award. The award recognizes Trevino's contributions to skin cancer awareness and prevention as director of an annual program providing free skin cancer screenings at multiple locations throughout the Miami Valley. The one-week program, which Trevino has overseen for the past 15 years, takes place each May during National Skin Cancer Awareness Month and serves some 750 to 1000 patients.
A 1987 graduate of the medical school, Trevino is also an alumnus of the school's Dermatology Residency Program. During his residency, Trevino served as chief resident and joined the faculty as a resident instructor. Following his residency training, which also included three years with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Department of Internal Medicine, Trevino became a full-time faculty member in 1994. Trevino came to Wright State after graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Trinity University (Texas).
In addition to his administrative duties and role in training medical students and resident physicians, Trevino remains active in patient care as a member of the Wright State Physicians Dermatology practice.
