The mission of the Lifespan Health Research Center is to advance and disseminate knowledge through the pursuit of excellence in research, teaching and professional service. The Lifespan Health Research Center is committed to maintaining and expanding its national and international prominence in health-related biomedical research.

Research is also focused on determinants of craniofacial morphology, genetics of bone and joint health, longitudinal modeling of growth and assessment of skeletal maturity.

The Lifespan Health Research Center conducts ongoing research projects, and it is home to the Fels Longitudinal Study. The Fels Longitudinal Study is the world's largest and longest running study of human development, growth, body composition and aging. The LHRC draws on the strength of the Fels Longitudinal Study and other population-based studies past and present.
