Lillian M. Pubols, Ph.D. (right), provides grants consulting services to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She can advise fully affiliated faculty who are developing grant submissions or resubmissions to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Consulting support for other funding organizations may be considered. Consulting costs are covered by the Office of Research Affairs. Faculty who wish to consult with Dr. Pubols are encouraged to do so early in the proposal development process, and no later than 10 weeks before the grant deadline. Interested faculty should contact Associate Dean Timothy Broderick, M.D., at (937) 775-3018 to initiate the consultation.

Dr. Pubols is a former Scientific Review Administrator and Chief of the Scientific Review Branch at NIH's National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. She received a Ph.D. degree in physiological psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She held faculty positions at Penn State University, the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and Oregon Health and Science University. In 1980-1 she was a Fogarty Senior International Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. She was a senior scientist at the Robert S. Dow Neurological Sciences Institute in Portland, Oregon from 1982 to 1993. During that time she served as a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Institute of Dental Research, and as a member of the NIH Neurological Sciences 2 study section. She served at NIH from 1993-2002.

Dr. Pubols was the keynote speaker at the 2004 Central Research Forum, where she presented "Grantsmanship 101: Writing a Grant Application with the Reviewer in Mind."
