Charge and Responsibilities
The LEAD Committee is responsible for overseeing the continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of the learning environment across BSOM and its affiliated clinical sites. The committee reviews data to ensure a comprehensive and centralized understanding of the learning environment, enabling identification of trends, strengths, and areas of improvement. The committee identifies positive and negative influences on the learning environment, promotes a culture of professionalism and respect, and ensures that all reported concerns are appropriately reviewed, investigated, and addressed in a timely manner. The committee also supports the development of coordinated, data-informed strategies to enhance the learning environment and mitigate concerns, including identifying opportunities for systemic interventions. The committee will develop and disseminate quarterly learning environment reports to communicate trends, actions, and improvements to learners and institutional stakeholders to support transparency and accountability.

Organization
- Voting. All members of the LEAD Committee shall be eligible to vote, except for the Assistant Dean of Professionalism.
- Quorum. A quorum shall be at least 50% of voting membership present. A quorum is required for all decisions requiring a vote of the committee.
- Term. Those with administrative appointments shall serve until their administrative role expires.
- Chair. The LEAD Committee is chaired by the Assistant Dean of Professionalism.
- Invitees. As appropriate to facilitate the recommendations and decision making of the committee, from time-to-time, the BSOM and WSU Ombudspersons may be invited to present and participate in committee discussions, however neither ombudsperson serves as a committee member nor do they have any voting rights by virtue of their participation.
- Reporting. The LEAD Committee reports to the Dean of Medicine.
Meetings
The LEAD Committee shall meet at least four times per year. Additional meetings may be called by the chair as necessary to address emergent issues and/or fulfill the charge and responsibilities of the committee. Minutes appropriate for committee conversations will be taken.
