Dr. Gogi Kumar and Dr. Jon Williams have each been individually selected to receive the 2025 BSOM Faculty Seed Grants for their research in pediatric seizure occurrence and multiple sclerosis, respectively. The money they receive from their respective grants will go towards research supplies and will allow them to build their research over the next year. These grants are awarded by the BSOM Research Committee and Office of Research Affairs based on scientific merit, significance, and feasibility.

Dr. Gogi Kumar, professor of Pediatrics and chief of Child Neurology, with her co-PI, Dr. Shobhan Vachhrajani, associate professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurosurgeon, will be studying seizure occurrence and reoccurrence in pediatric patients with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt.

Dr. Jon Williams, assistant professor of Clinical Neurosciences, will model acute and chronic inflammation in multiple sclerosis to better understand cell-specific dysfunction.
