Fourth year medical students Fatima Boumahchad and Ellen Model spent two weeks at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico.

"After completing my GH training experience, I now will approach my care of global populations with a better understanding of community-centered health practices," Boumahchad said.

Model said she is now interested in learning more about different indigenous tribes. 

"While I know that I will never be able to fully understand each culture I work with, I think it is important to keep trying to learn and continue to be open-minded," Model said.
