WSU Emergency Medicine faculty and alumni participate in SOMA annual conference

Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) held its annual conference in Raleigh, NC, on May 5-9, 2025. In attendance were WSU EM military faculty Dr. Adam Kruse and Dr. Andrea Kaelin (WSU EM 2015).
Sitting on the SOMA Board of Directors are Dr. JR Pickett (WSU EM 2008) and Dr. Christi Verchinin (WSU EM 2015).
Dr. Kaelin ran an ultrasound lab at the conference across 3 days of 4-hour lab sessions and trained 60 medics, nurses, and physicians in point of care ultrasonography.
WSU EM Clinical Instructor Woody Goffinett (FF/Paramedic/Tactical Medic/ATC) ran a field splinting/taping lab at the conference.
Dr. Eric Kretz (WSU EM 2024, current EMS Fellow at San Antonio Military Medical Center) presented research on Intraosseus Confirmation using Ultrasound.
