Julie Gentile, M.D., spoke at the 41st Annual National Association for the Dually Diagnosed Annual Conference and Exhibit Show in Tempe, AZ, on October 7-9, 2024. 

NADD’s mission is to enhance leadership in the expansion of knowledge, training, policy, and advocacy for mental health practices that promote a quality life for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions (IDD/MI) in their communities.

Dr. Gentile's Keynote: The Future of Psychiatry for IDD, The Four Keys to Success

Dr. Gentile presented about the intricacies of suicide prevention in ID and interventional psychiatry techniques to treat mental health conditions. Specific areas of pharmacologic management with which to use caution in this specialized population were reviewed. Dr. Gentile discussed technological interventions and counseling adaptations shown to be effective in patients with ID, traumatic brain injury, and other cognitive impairments. Results of the Global ID COVID-19 Research Project were reviewed as well.
