November 7, 2024

Pharmacology and Toxicology's Vice Chair and Associate Professor Dr. Terry Oroszi was part of a group of 22 international experts, including trauma surgeons and child psychologists, that convened at the Engelsberg Ironworks in Sweden to discuss the Nadija Children's Hospital & Research Institute during a symposium held from October 20 to 22, 2024. The symposium focused on creating a blueprint for a children's hospital and research institute in Ukraine. The goal is to establish a facility that can address the physical and psychological trauma experienced by Ukrainian children due to the ongoing war.

The Nadija Children's Hospital and Research Institue is fundraising €10 million by following a three stage approach, including starting a virtual hospital, a research institute, and eventually a physical rehabilitation hospital. For more information about the institute, including challenges it is facing, the overall mission of the organization, and members involved, visit the Nadija website

The foundation's Security and Risk Advisor, Juha Vauhkonen, Rear Admiral (ret.), former director of Finnish Defense Intelligence, recommended Oroszi to be part of this team of experts due to unique qualifications related to healthcare and homeland security.
