DAYTON, OHIO - Medical faculty, students, and staff will share their artistic endeavors with the community at the Third Annual "The Healer as Artist" exhibit. The event will be held in the lobby of the Frederick A. White Health Center on Wright State University's main campus
April 7-May 2, 2003. The exhibit is free and open to the public from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Mary White, Ph.D., associate professor of community health and director of the Division of Medical Humanities, Lynn McDonald, M.D., assistant clinical professor of community health, and Judi Engle, director for public relations, are the co-directors of the event. "Many members of our medical school possess artistic talents that are hidden behind busy schedules and demanding lives," explains McDonald. "We hope to share the creativity and vision of our health care community, get to know each other better, celebrate spring, and just have some fun," adds White.
The exhibit includes art in several media: photography, sculpting, drawing, pottery making, and painting. Guests of the exhibit can vote for their favorite entries. The People's Choice Awards, generously provided by McCallisters Art Supplies, will be given at a closing reception on May 1.
