Dayton, Ohio-Howard Part, M.D., dean for Wright State University School of Medicine presented Image of Joseph Seaman Being Hooded by Dr. Turkthe Dean's Award to Joseph C. Seaman, Jr., during graduation ceremonies held at the Schuster Performing Arts Center on May 28th.
The Dean's award is given to a graduating medical student who embodies the goals of the school and demonstrates integrity, good citizenship, and good interpersonal relationships with peers, patients, and the community.
Dr. Seaman is a native of Winchester, Ohio, and a graduate of North Adams High School, and Southern State Community College with an A.S. in biology/chemistry. He also holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Cincinnati.
Seaman was elected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society during his third year of medical school and has represented his class as class representative, as Medical School Student Council representative, Convocation day brunch coordinator, Fundraising Committee chair, phone-a-thon coordinator for the Alumni Association, third-year Academic Committee chair, and the American Medical Association/Ohio Student Medical Association Residency Fair co-chair. As an active community volunteer he participated in Reach Out of Montgomery County, a medical care facility providing free care to the uninsured and/or underinsured; the American Medical Student Association annual stroke and blood screening health fair; Wright State's Anatomical Gift Program Interment Ceremony; and with the Student-to-Student program by giving talks to grade school students on the human body and kids n' docs.
Seaman is entering a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati University Hospital.
