Barbara Schuster, M.D., receives the Teaching Excellence Award

DAYTON, OHIO-Barbara L. Schuster, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine, was honored by the graduating class of 2005 with the Teaching Excellence Award. She received the award during the graduation ceremony held at the Schuster Performing Arts Center, May 27.

She was recognized by the students as the faculty member who displayed outstanding professional skill and pride in her instructional responsibilities.

Schuster has been at Wright State University School of Medicine since 1995. Prior to her present position, Schuster served as residency program director for the Primary Care Program in Internal Medicine and the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatric Program at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry. She holds a B.A. in Biology and an M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.D., from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, where she also completed postgraduate residency training in internal medicine.

A recipient of numerous awards, Schuster is also recognized nationally as an educator, innovator, and leader who received the prestigious Dema C. Daley Founder's award in 2004.
