A team of family medicine residents was one of 16 resident groups nationwide to receive a Senior Immunization Grant Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. The $10,000 grant will be used to improve influenza and pneumococcal vaccine rates in patients age 65 and older during the 2014-15 flu season. The residency’s clinical office, Five Rivers Health Centers Family Health Center, as part of a Federally Qualified Health Center, serves a medically underserved area in Dayton. The team is working with Lisa Collier Kellar, M.D., associate professor of family medicine, and Kate Cauley, Ph.D., director of the Center for Healthy Communities.
