UPDATE: Wright State University is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with Ohio Senate Bill 1. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by the law may still appear in some places. As of June 27, 2025, all programs and activities will be administered in compliance with the law.

Withdrawal Procedures

These procedures accompany the Module/Clerkship/Elective or MD Program Withdrawal Policy.

Students interested in withdrawing from a module/clerkship/elective or MD program must meet with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions and the BSOM Manager of Financial Aid. Students must be aware that a withdrawal from any module/clerkship/elective or program may impact financial aid.

In alignment with Wright State University policy, the following algorithm is how transcript grades will be determined in the case of withdrawal.

Percent of Module/Clerkship/Elective Completed Consideration Transcript Grade
<30% Regardless of academic performance No grade recorded
30-65% At time of withdrawal had passing average WP
30-65% At time of withdrawal had failing average WF
>65% No option to withdraw Fail or Pass (no W)

Once withdrawal deadlines have passed, the student will be assigned a grade when the module/clerkship/elective ends. Once the grade is posted, the grade may be appealed following the BSOM Appeals Policy.

Administrative Adjustment

BSOM's Assistant Registrar in the Office of Student Affairs may approve petitions that involve errors or require a retroactive administrative drop for verified non-attendance. Such petitions must come from a BSOM faculty or staff member; submissions from students will not be considered. BSOM students are encouraged to discuss these petitions with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions.
