One-hundred and sixteen graduating medical students of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine learned on March 19, 2021 where they will spend the next three to five years of their lives completing residency training after receiving their medical degrees in May.

More than 41 percent of the Wright State graduates will remain in Ohio during residency, and 20 percent will remain in Dayton. More than a third (37.9 percent) will enter a primary care field (Family Medicine: 18.1 percent; Internal Medicine: 11.2 percent; and Pediatrics: 8.6 percent). The rest matched in 14 other specialties: Anesthesiology: 7.75 percent; Dermatology: 1.7 percent; Emergency Medicine: 17.2 percent; Neurology: 4.3 percent; Obstetrics and Gynecology: 5.1 percent; Ophthalmology: 1.7 percent; Orthopaedic Surgery: 4.3 percent; Otolaryngology: 0.8 percent; Pathology: 3.4 percent; Plastic Surgery: 6.0 percent; Psychiatry: 8.6 percent; Radiation Oncology: 0.8 percent; Radiology: 0.8 percent; and Surgery: 3.4 percent.
