Medical Education

DA2WM supports education and training for the Wright State University Integrated Emergency Medicine Residency Program through two dedicated Wilderness and Operational Medicine Days each academic year and quarterly volunteer resident outings. DA2WM collaborates with the Wright State Aviation Sciences and Technology and the BSOM Department of Population and Public Health to incorporate operational components and experiences into undergraduate and graduate-level disaster and aviation medicine courses. Residents have opportunities to volunteer with local wilderness medicine organizations and the Mad River Mountain Ski Patrol.

Community Outreach and Operational Support

DA2WM collaborates with various organizations, including the Dayton Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS)/Regional Medical Response System (RMRS), Wright State Outdoor Resource Center, and Five Rivers MetroParks.  The division hosts a wilderness medicine track at The Adventure Summit.
