Gregory Toussaint, M.D., provides BSOM faculty updates

From the Office of the Dean:

Jim Brown, M.D., Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine, retired on June 30 and Brian Springer, M.D., will serve as Interim Chair for the new academic year starting July 1.

John Duby, M.D., Chair, Department of Pediatrics, retired on June 30 and Sherman Alter, M.D., will serve as Interim Chair, Department of Pediatrics also effective July 1, until the Dayton Children’s led search concludes, and a permanent chair is named.

Effective July 1, Ngozi Anachebe, M.D., Pharm.D., Vice Dean for Educational Affairs and John Folk, M.D., Ed.D., Associate Dean for Medical Education, have left BSOM to pursue other opportunities. Amanda Bell, M.D., moves to be Assistant Dean, Clinical Skills Education and directing the Skills Assessment and Training Center. Lisa Journell, Ed.D., assumes additional duties as Director, Educational Support Services, overseeing classroom support operations, the physical space of White Hall, and our Anatomical Gift Program.

Jay Bernstein, M.D., M.P.H., is moving from the Department of Emergency Medicine to that of Medical Education to serve in the role of Vice Chair, Doctoring, with responsibilities for clinical integration throughout the WrightCurriculum. With Dr. Bernstein’s move, Simranjit Gill, D.O., becomes the Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director.

Please join me in thanking Drs. Alter, Anachebe, Brown, Duby, and Folk for their service to BSOM and congratulate Drs. Bell, Bernstein, Gill, Journell, and Springer on their new or expanded roles.
