Boonshoft School of Medicine had 86 graduating medical students assigned to residency programs through the National Resident Matching Program on March 18, 2010. Wright State's fourth-year medical students matched at prestigious institutions in Ohio and across the country, including the Mayo Clinic's Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Yale, Georgetown, Boston University, the University of California, and the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Nearly half of the Wright State graduates will remain in Ohio during residency, and 43 percent will enter a primary care field (Family Medicine: 12.8 percent; Internal Medicine: 15.1 percent; Internal Medicine-Pediatrics: 1.2 percent; Pediatrics: 12.8 percent; and Pediatrics/Emergency Medicine: 1.2 percent). The majority matched in 14 other specialties: Anesthesiology: 7.0 percent; Dermatology: 1.2 percent; Emergency Medicine: 7.0 percent; Neurology: 2.3 percent; Obstetrics & Gynecology: 9.3 percent; Ophthalmology: 2.3 percent; Orthopaedic Surgery: 2.3 percent; Otolaryngology: 2.3 percent; Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation: 2.3 percent; Psychiatry: 4.7 percent; Radiology-Diagnostic: 5.8 percent; Surgery-General: 8.1 percent; Urology: 1.2 percent and Vascular Surgery: 1.2 percent.
