Deaf/Hard of Hearing Resources

Deaf off Drugs and Alcohol (DODA)

DODA provides virtual meeting spaces for AA, NA, and Al-Anon meetings that are conducted in American Sign Language (ASL) and the Thought, Prayer, and Meditation in ASL.

Meetings are held in EST; however, any Deaf person fluent in ASL (around the world) is welcome to join the meetings.

Connect to the DODA meetings website.

DODA can help in the following ways:

  • Assist with finding local treatment.
  • Assist in finding Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) that are conducted in ASL or provide interpreters.
  • Advocate for additional services or accommodations when necessary.

ASL-STAR

The ASL-STAR website is a FREE resource for counselors providing services to Deaf and hard-of-hearing people.  There are 11 assessments and screeners in the areas of behavioral health and employment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.  There are short training videos for providers to take on each assessment and screener as well as Deaf culture.
