Michael Bess, M.D., MHA 

Addiction Medicine Fellow 

Dr. Bess is an Addiction Medicine Fellow for the 2024-2025 academic year. Prior to starting his fellowship program at Wright State University, he worked with UnitedHealth Group as Senior Medical Director UnitedHealthcare National Accounts and as National Medical Director, Telehealth at Optum. He received his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and completed his post-graduate training at Halifax Health, Daytona Beach, FL. He earned his Master of Health Administration from The Ohio State University in 2013. Dr. Bess is board certified in family medicine and has extensive clinical experience in urgent and emergency care. His interests and hobbies include flying, boating, skiing, and traveling to the Caribbean.



Armika Collins, D.O. 

Addiction Medicine Fellow 

Armika Collins is a board-certified family medicine physician. She was raised in an urban inner-city neighborhood in Cincinnati, OH. She received her bachelors in biology from The Ohio State University and attended Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. She then went on to complete a 3-year residency in family medicine at The University of Cincinnati/The Christ Hospital. Armika has a passion for serving medically underserved and marginalized communities. She is looking forward to her year of addiction medicine training and learning the most effective way to serve those with substance use disorders. Her hobbies include making beaded jewelry and traveling. She's also been known to try a myriad of adventures, including skydiving, kayaking and spelunking.
