PRESTO - Promoting Engagement for Safe Tapering of Opioids

PRomoting Engagement for Safe Tapering of Opioids (PRESTO) is a Ohio Department of Higher Education Third Frontier grant-funded project. The purpose of PRESTO is to train primary care providers in a prescription-tapering protocol. Wright State has recruited nearly 150 primary care providers for trainings that include CDC opioid-prescribing guidelines, the Ohio prescription drug monitoring program OARRS, and the motivational interviewing approach. The project will compare prescribing patterns eight months before training and eight months after training in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the PRESTO approach as a means to reduce the risk of overdose.

Registration for the PRESTO project is now closed, however, data collection is ongoing.

If you are a participant of the study, you may access the training materials page here.

This research study is funded by a Third Frontier Research Incentive grant of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) (BOR01-0000006949). The study has been reviewed and approved by the Wright State University IRB (#06886).
