Subject: Resignation/Retirement
Full Time and Part Time Faculty
- The faculty member should submit a letter of resignation/retirement to their primary department chair, with a copy to the BSOM Dean and to the secondary department chair, if applicable, as far in advance as reasonably possible, stating their desired date of resignation/retirement.
- The department chair, after appropriate consultation with BSOM leadership, accepts the resignation/retirement in writing and sets forth the faculty member's last working day.
- The department chair sends to the Office of Fiscal Affairs a copy of the faculty member's resignation/retirement and the chair's acceptance. The Office of Fiscal Affairs will notify the Department of Human Resources and the Office of Faculty Affairs.
- Human Resources will oversee the exit process, e.g., faculty member must return all keys, library books, ID card, etc.
Community Faculty
- The department chair must notify the BSOM Dean and the Office of Faculty Affairs of the voluntary faculty member's resignation/retirement giving the reason for the resignation, if available, and the planned last date of work.
- The memo will be shared with the secondary department chair, if applicable.
