350.1 Definition of Withdrawal
Per the Wright State University Withdrawal Policy 3510.1 - General Policy, “Withdrawal is the active decision on the part of students to officially remove themselves from the roster of a class or classes that they are attending. Withdrawing is an official process that should be done in consultation with the student’s advisor. Not attending or not participating in learning activities is not the same as withdrawal.”
350.2 Module/Clerkship/Elective Withdrawal
If for whatever reason a student can no longer take a module/clerkship/elective in which they are enrolled, they must notify the Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM) scheduling team (som-scheduling@wright.edu) no less than 30 days prior to the start of the module/clerkship/elective in order for the student’s schedule to be updated accordingly.
Any student who for whatever reason cannot attend or appropriately participate in their scheduled module/clerkship/elective must notify the Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions and the Manger of Financial Aid no later than two (2) days past the start of the module/clerkship/elective. Once a module/clerkship/elective begins, it will appear on the student’s official transcript with the appropriate withdraw designation. Failure to notify the Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions and Manager of Financial Aid in a timely manner may result in a student receiving an F (Failure) instead of a withdraw.
A student may be eligible for full or partial tuition and/or fee refund depending on the date of withdrawal, in accordance with the BSOM Tuition and Fee Refund Policy.
350.3 Transcript Grade
Students will receive either a WP (Withdrew Passing) or a WF (Withdrew Failing) for a module/clerkship/elective from which they withdrew, in accordance with the BSOM Transcript Policy and the timeline outlined above.
350.4 Procedure for Module/Clerkship/Elective or MD Program Withdrawal
Students interested in withdrawing from a module/clerkship/elective or MD program must meet with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions and the BSOM Manager of Financial Aid. Students must be aware that a withdrawal from any module/clerkship/elective or program may impact financial aid.
