Tuition/Fee Remission Benefit for Institutional Fully Affiliated Faculty

Definition

Institutional faculty are professional staff who are employed by affiliated institutions and whose duties are primarily academic and in support of the education of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine students and trainees. Institutional appointments terminate when employment at the affiliated institution ends.

Source of Funds

The Boonshoft School of Medicine designates support (subject to annual budget review) for all institutional faculty educational benefits for Wright State University classes. The fee remission is available for fall and spring semesters only. When the accrued maximum annual tuition and fee waiver level has been reached in any given academic year, the tuition and fees shall be the responsibility of the faculty member.

Tax Implication

The benefits derived from this program will be considered taxable compensation, according to IRS regulations. A 1099-MISC will be issued to the institutional faculty who use the tuition and fee remission benefit.

When the institutional faculty member is the student…
